2023 has been a very busy year for Simon Thomas Pirie with projects small and large going through the workshops at a relentless pace. We’ve done little in the way of public shows because we’ve just not had time despite this being our 25 year anniversary. We will just have to let the work we’ve done speak for itself and give you a sense of what we’ve been up to through images we have taken both the workshops and on site.
The year started with us looking to extend the team to match the ever growing order book. By the end of the year not only had we appointed Oscar as a new maker but we had a new apprentice called Ben, who will be our second formal apprentice. Finding the right people to become part of our close knit team has been key to creating a positive workplace culture and that of course reflects in the work we make.
So far in 2023 we’ve made three bespoke kitchens, a panelled snooker room, two sets of bathroom furniture, a couple of media walls, three suites of outdoor furniture, a large dressing room and wardrobe project and various commissions for smaller bespoke pieces; from marble topped hall tables to plinths for a life size ballerina sculpture for our good friend Simon Gudgeon. The year isn’t over yet and we still have plenty more to fit in including our largest kitchen yet!
The start of 2024 is going to be dominated by some really striking projects where we are working closely with architectural practices on whole house fit outs. These projects and some of the images you’ve seen here as a sneak peak will end up as case studies on the blog soon so keep your eyes peeled!
