Simon Thomas Pirie’s work carries many influences, Japanese and Oriental design through to the Arts & Crafts movement, Art Deco, Utility furniture and British modernism. As a result, Simon Thomas Pirie furniture has a distilled language of its own, a combination of classic forms and proportions mixed with a subtle, pared-back contemporary detailing. The use of beautiful, curving forms also reflects a long-standing love of architecture and engineering: bridges, aircraft and skyscrapers are as likely a stimulus as the work of any furniture designer.
